Nipple Reduction

The surgery won’t be painful at all because you will be under local or general anesthesia. The recovery is more uncomfortable than painful, and you will be prescribed pain medication to make it more manageable. The first 3-7 days will be the most uncomfortable, but the discomfort will gradually fade with time and rest.

You can expect around 5-6 appointments throughout your nipple reduction journey. These appointments include a consultation, surgery, and a handful of follow-ups. These follow-ups include things like Dr. Economides removing bandages/drains, checking incision sites, and monitoring early healing.

You will notice immediate changes to the size and shape of your nipples after your surgery. As the bruising and swelling subside and the tissue continues to settle, refined results will appear after four to six weeks. Final results appear within three to six months.

In general, it is safe to fly within 2-6 weeks of your surgery, depending on the length of your flight. This restriction is to avoid an increased risk of swelling, bruising, and deep vein thrombosis.

You may go on short to medium-length drives after 1-2 weeks, but you should stretch your legs and walk around every hour to promote blood circulation.

While the procedure is safe, you will likely still experience some mild swelling, bruising, tightness, redness, and soreness. Less common risks include damage to milk ducts affecting the ability to breastfeed, changes in nipple sensation, an adverse reaction to the anesthesia, visible scarring, and infection.
