What to Expect on the Day of Fraxel® DUAL Laser Treatment

Your Fraxel® DUAL appointment will start with a cleaning of the area, and a topical anesthetic can be applied. Once your skin is ready, the Fraxel® DUAL device will move over the area, sending thousands of tiny laser columns into your skin.​

Treatment will take 20 to 45 minutes, during which you will feel warmth or mild tingling. Afterward, clients may look pink or red and feel a slight sunburn, but we will provide skincare products and clear aftercare instructions to help you heal and achieve the best results.

Following your Fraxel® DUAL treatment, it’s normal to experience redness, warmth, mild swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation. Your skin may also begin to feel rough as the healing process starts. Most patients return home immediately after treatment with personalized aftercare instructions and medical-grade skincare products to support recovery.

The First Week

Over the next several days, your skin may bronze, flake, or peel as damaged cells are naturally replaced with healthier skin. Continue using gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and broad-spectrum sunscreen daily while avoiding excessive sun exposure, harsh skincare products, and unnecessary heat. Many patients feel comfortable returning to work and most normal activities within one to three days.

Weeks 2-6

As your skin continues to heal, you’ll notice improvements in tone, texture, pigmentation, and overall radiance. The deeper 1550 nm wavelength continues stimulating new collagen production beneath the surface, helping soften acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and other textural concerns.

Months 2-6 and Beyond

Collagen remodeling continues for several months after treatment, gradually improving skin firmness, smoothness, and overall quality. While many patients achieve excellent results after a single session, those treating deeper scars, significant sun damage, or more advanced skin concerns may benefit from a series of treatments to maximize long-term rejuvenation.
