What is Chest Masculinization?
Chest masculinization is a gender-affirming surgical procedure to create a flatter, more masculine-appearing chest contour. The procedure may involve removing breast tissue, reducing excess skin, repositioning or resizing the nipples, and contouring surrounding tissues to achieve a more masculine chest appearance.
There is no single version of a masculine chest, which is why chest masculinization surgery is highly individualized. Surgical planning takes into account factors such as body proportions, skin elasticity, existing chest anatomy, and personal goals with the goal of creating a result that appears natural, balanced, and congruent with the patient’s identity and physique.
